Ski holidays Schruns – Where nature is lived!

Schruns

The traditional-rich village of Schruns (700 m), in the heart of the Montafon and directly at the entrance to the Silbertal, lies beautifully embedded in the backdrop of the mountain ranges of the Verwall and Rätikons. The side valley, characterised by mining, offers its guests a mining museum in the Silbertal six kilometres away. Additionally, one of the largest open-air stages in Europe with 20,000 m² of playing space can be found here. Schruns and the neighbouring village of Tschagguns form a small town with slightly more than 6,000 inhabitants. Due to its location, the town was, already 100 years ago, one of the Voralberg's first summer resorts and one of Austria's best-visited destinations.Located in the heart of Montafon, the twin town of Schruns-Tschagguns offers multiple clubs, bars and gastronomic facilities and, in addition to that, the Voralberg's largest amusement park. The Akivpark Montafon offers a daily entertainment programme and a wealth of sporting facilities, including a large artificial ice rink with ice hockey court. Two ski areas are located directly on the outskirts of the village, including the world cup-proven Golm ski area near Tschagguns and the Hochjoch adventure ski area near Schruns with a dreamland for children and the possibility of a large variety of the latest trend sports equipment such as Skifox, Snowcycle or Airboard rental.

Montafon

The 39 km long Alpine valley Montafon in Vorarlberg is mainly characterised by the small and traditional villages, and their very conscious interaction with the numerous natural monuments in this impressive mountain region. To maintain the natural surroundings and the local traditions, a club was founded called "bewusstmontafon" (conscious of Montafon) together with a brand logo, which labels all products originating from this region. The tranquil resorts in this traditional valley serve as hide-aways aside from the tourism hotspots, and besides many attractive ski areas, also provide a multitude of leisure time activities, such as winter and snowshoe hike, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating.
