Ski holidays Stadl an der Mur – The quiet neighbour of Kreischberg!
Stadl an der Mur
The resort Stadl an der Mur is located at an altitude of 914 m at the upper reaches of the Mur in Eastern Styria. The river flows through the small town with about 1,000 inhabitants and creates a scenic atmosphere. The pedestrian and bicycle bridge "Mursteg" connects the two town districts and is one of the most famous wooden structures of the region. The overall appearance of Stadl is characterised by the late Gothic parish church and the impressive renaissance castle Goppelsbach. A small lake at the southern edge of towns that can be used for swimming in summer and for ice skating in winter amplifies the cosy atmosphere. Moreover, there is a leisure centre at the lake with a playground and restaurant. Stadl an der Mur is connected to the Mur Valley railway, so trips to the surrounding areas are easy to organise. Two ski areas are easily accessible from the resort: the Turracher Höhe and the Kreischberg. You will find the very popular World Cup ski area Kreischberg (lift pass included) approx. 13 km away.
Murau-Kreischberg
The region Murau-Kreischberg is part of the Mur Valley and is located in the federal state of Styria, not far from the border to Carinthia. The valley is surrounded by the mountain massifs of the Niedere Tauern and the Nock Mountains. Romantic towns and villages in the valley and loads of winter fun on 42 km of piste, at altitudes up to 2,118 m, await you here. Medieval buildings and the castle of Murau give this region a very special character. Especially families with children will feel welcome here, thanks to the mostly easy to intermediate pistes. The Kreischberg was further the venue to the Snowboard World Championships in 2003, as well as the FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships in 2015 and hence is known far and wide, even across the borders of Austria. The vast leisure time offers ensures that boredom is a foreign feeling here. Fun and entertainment for night owls can be found in the cafés, bars and discos.
