Ski area Sonnenkopf
The mostly blue and red pistes of this manageable ski area are mainly suited for families. The little ones can get used to the sport in the "Schneemanland", where they can practice their first swings, or go tobogganing or build a snowman if they feel it.
More experienced skiers will also find their titbits at the Sonnenkopf - both on and aside the pistes. The Vermalen descent is 8 km long and demands a good amount of stamina. The piste to the "Bärenloch" however, also demands strength and technique: with approx. 64% decline, this 800 m long slope is one of the steepest in Austria. Aside from the normal pistes, freeriders will find approx. 4 km of ski routes, and further up the Verwall in the East and the Silbertal in the West, there are more routes to explore. Among freestylers, the ski area is especially suited for beginners. There is beginner funpark which is ideal for getting some practice in.
Après ski Wald am Arlberg
Instead of a lively party life, the resorts in Klostertal still offer a large variety of activities apart from skiing, and the Sonnenkopf is not only a paradise for skiers: A 2 km toboggan run leads from the mountain station down to the middle station. Hikers can look forward to three winter hiking trails on the sunny high plateau, one of which is the most beautiful hiking trail in all Vorarlberg: the way to the summit cross at Muttjöchle (2,074 m) used to be reserved for snow shoe hikers and ski tourers only. Nowadays you can reach the summit without any aids - and enjoy a beautiful 360° view of the surrounding mountains. The Fallbach waterfall is a place for everybody who is especially courageous, as here you can find the longest continuous ice route in Austria. Ice climbers can look forward to a length of 700 m.
If you prefer it a little more quiet you can visit the public indoor pool in Dalaas or enjoy the quiet and the sea salt steam in the salt grotto Vorarlberg. The grotto in Dalaas was blasted out the rocks and coated with 44 tons of Himalayan salt.
Snowpark: Funpark Sonnenkopf Wald am Arlberg
At the Sonnenkopf, and location in the heart of the ski area, lies a small terrain, which is especially suited for beginners in the freestyle scene. In the beginner funpark there 5 easy to intermediate obstacles to practice on. Further, there is a kickerline with tables between 3 and 5 m. Ideal, for working on the first presentable tricks.
