Ski area Les Sybelles

„Les Sybelles“ (1,100 – 2,620 m) has as one of France's greatis ski regions more than 310 diverse kilometres of pistes, with mostly easy to medium difficulty and 68 lifts in a total of six interconnected ski areas. Le Corbier, Saint Sorlin d'Arves, St. Jean d'Arves, La Toussuire, Les Bottières as well as St. Colomban des Villards are the names of the areas at the foot of l'Ouillon (2,431 m) that offer great diversity.

The huge area of pistes offers ideal conditions for beginners and families with children, as the numerous blue pistes provide a varied introduction to skiing for the less experienced. The slope above La Toussuire is characterised by red, intermediate slopes in the upper part, while the terrain just before the ski station is peppered with easy, blue runs. In addition, more experienced skiers will have fun on the almost 22 km of black runs.

In addition to many family-friendly slopes, Les Sybelles also offers very good deep snow conditions, including at l'Ouillon, Bellard and Grand Truc. Those who like it fast on the groomed slopes will have fun on the black piste "Casse Pipe". Freestylers can let off steam in the snow park and night skiers on two floodlit pistes.

Before the start of the 2022/23 winter season, the ski area recently invested a lot of money in its first 10-seater gondola lift, the Côte du Bois. The lift replaces the Côte du Bois 4-seater chair lift of the same name and connects the valley area of La Toussuire with the middle area, where the connection is made via further lifts to Ouillon and Le Corbier.

Night skiing St. Colomban des Villards

Skiers and snowboarders who want to continue skiing after a long day on the slopes can do so at night skiing in La Toussuire. There, night skiing under floodlights is offered every Tuesday, from 17:15 during the Christmas holidays and from 17:45 from mid February to mid March, on an easy, 300 m long piste at the Petite Verdette lift. The same applies to the piste Lièvre in St Jean d'Arves. There, the downhill run is floodlit over a length of 500 m and always on Thursdays during the French school holidays, from 18:00 to 20:00.

Après ski St. Colomban des Villards

In the ski resort of Les Sybelles, après-ski deviates somewhat from the classic pattern: in places like St. Colomban des Villards, it is customary for guests to stay outside instead of inside in bars and restaurants. There, they look for a free spot in a deck chair on the terraces to soak up the last rays of sun of the day while enjoying a glass or two of the local herbal liqueur Génépi. Another must for the gourmets among the ski holidaymakers in St. Colomban is a culinary excursion into the local cuisine. The restaurants in the village spoil their customers with tartiflette or fondue Savoyarde.

Winter sports enthusiasts who want to work off those calories the next day off the slopes should not miss a snowshoe hike, a dog sled ride, the ice rink in the village centre or the weekly torchlight run, which always takes place on Thursdays. For the youngest ski holidaymakers, there is also a ski kindergarten right in the village, which offers two-hour skiing lessons daily for children from the age of 4.

Snowpark: Snowpark Sy'X Park St. Colomban des Villards

In the ski area Les Sybelles, freestylers of all levels can let off steam in the "Sy'X Park". The area is located at L'Ouillon in La Toussiere at an altitude of 2,100 m - 2,370 m, making it the largest park in the ski area. Red and black modules await advanced riders and freestyle experts. Large boxes, tables and kickers also demand creativity and good skills. Beginners and newcomers can acquire these in the "Easy Park", where easy, blue and green modules await. The ski area also offers a challenging boardercross course.
