Ski area Les Sybelles

As one of the largest ski regions in France, "Les Sybelles" (1,100 - 2,620 m) has 310 kilometres of varied pistes, most of which are easy to medium difficulty, as well as 68 lifts in a total of six interconnected ski areas. Le Corbier, Saint Sorlin d'Arves, St Jean d'Arves, La Toussuire, Les Bottières and St Colomban des Villards are the names of the areas at the foot of l'Ouillon (2,431 m), which offer a great variety.

The huge piste area offers ideal conditions for beginners and families with children, as the numerous blue pistes provide a varied introduction to skiing fun for the less experienced. The upper part of the slope above La Toussuire is characterised by red, medium-difficulty pistes, while the terrain just before the ski station is peppered with easy, sky-blue runs. More experienced skiers will also have fun on the almost 22 kilometres of black pistes.

In addition to many family-friendly slopes, Les Sybelles also offers very good deep snow conditions, including on l'Ouillon, Bellard and Grand Truc. Those who like it fast on the groomed pistes will have fun on the black piste "Casse Pipe". Freestylers can let off steam in the snow park and night skiers can enjoy two floodlit pistes.

Before the start of the 2022/23 winter season, the ski resort recently invested a lot of money in its first 10-passenger gondola lift, the Côte du Bois. The installation replaces the Côte du Bois 4-seater chairlift of the same name and connects the valley area of La Toussuire with the central area, where there is a connection via further lifts to Ouillon and Le Corbier.

Night skiing St. Jean d'Arves

Skiers and snowboarders who want to continue skiing after a long day on the piste can do so at night skiing in La Toussuire. Night skiing under floodlights is offered there every Tuesday from 5.15 pm during the Christmas holidays and from 5.45 pm from mid-February to mid-March on an easy, 300 m long piste at the Petite Verdette lift. The same applies to the Lièvre piste in St Jean d'Arves. There, the run is floodlit over a length of 500 m, every Thursday during the French school holidays from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Après ski St. Jean d'Arves

In the ski resort of Les Sybelles, après-ski deviates somewhat from the classic pattern: in places like St. Jean d'Arves, it is common for guests to spend time outside rather than inside bars and restaurants. There, they look for a free spot on a deckchair on the terrace to soak up the last rays of sunshine of the day while enjoying a glass or two of the local herbal liqueur Génépi. Another must for the gourmets among ski holidaymakers in St. Jean d'Arves is a culinary excursion into the local cuisine with specialities from Savoy.

If you want to be active away from the pistes in St. Jean d'Arves, there is a wide range of activities on offer. The leisure options for action-hungry winter holidaymakers range from dog sledding, snowmobile tours and snowshoe or night hikes to ice climbing and paragliding. For families, there are also excursions to local donkey farms, which also offer horseback rides. Meanwhile, fans of culture and cuisine should definitely not miss out on a visit to one of the excellent regional cheese dairies.

Snowpark: Snowpark Sy'X Park St. Jean d'Arves

In the "Les Sybelles" ski area, freestylers of all skill levels can let off steam in the "Sy'X Park". The area is located at L'Ouillon in La Toussiere at an altitude of 2,100 m - 2,370 m, making it the largest park in the ski resort. Red and black modules await advanced riders and freestyle experts in particular. Large boxes, tables and kickers also demand creativity and good skills. Beginners and novices can acquire these in the "Easy Park", where easy, blue and green modules await. The ski area also offers a challenging boardercross course.
