Ski holidays Olsberg - the gateway to Hochsauerland!

Olsberg

The tranquil town of Olsberg, located in the Hochsauerland district, transforms into a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts in winter. The Kneipp spa town is located in a wide valley surrounded by 50 mountains over 500 metres high, including the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Langenberg (843 m). There is a wide variety of leisure activities on offer in Olsberg: hike to the most beautiful mountain ridges in the region against a magnificent winter backdrop or visit the historic half-timbered houses in the old town of Bigger, just 1.5 kilometres away. Skiers, snowboarders and tobogganists will find great alpine conditions in the Sternrodt ski area on the Langenberg or in the well-known winter sports resort of Winterberg, approx. 20 km away. For all those who want to relax away from the piste, the AquaOlsberg, the only saltwater pool in the Sauerland, offers leisure fun for young and old.

Sauerland

Sauerland, in the south-east of North Rhine-Westphalia, is surrounded by the Lower Hesse mountain country, the edge of the Ostsauerländischen Gebirgsland, Wittgensteiner Land, Siegerland, and the Bergischen Land. As part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains, it's dominated by birch and spruce forests. Also known as the land of a thousand mountains, among Sauerland's highest mountains are Langenberg, Hegekopf, and the Kahle Asten, which contribute quite a bit to the region's winter sports. You may also take advantage of some of the countless cross-county trails and discover the breathtaking landscapes of these uplands. For those who prefer something a little more relaxed, a romantic sleigh ride through the snowy scenery is highly recommended. Floodlit facilities and toboggan runs for snow-tubes provide that extra bit of fun for the whole family.
