Ski area Watles - Malles Venosta
The Watles ski area is one of 15 ski areas in the Ortler Skiarena and is one of the most popular ski areas in the Vinschgau Valley. With its 10 kilometres, it is manageable for families and ideal for pleasure skiers of all ages. They all benefit from the mild climate, the wide slopes with snow-making facilities and enjoy the panoramic view of the peaks of the Sesvenna group in the border triangle between Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The "Prämajur" and "Watles" chairlifts take you up to the slopes, with the latter also taking toboggan fans to the popular floodlit night toboggan run. Children are expertly looked after in the Bubo Kinderpark ski kindergarten. A magic carpet, a ski carousel, a snow igloo, various play equipment and a children's restaurant await them here.
A highlight for speed skiers is the ski cross course, where you can race down the approx. 1 km long track at breakneck speed over waves, through steep wall bends and in fast changes of direction. Experienced deep snow fans can also enjoy the "Sautal" freeride run, a wonderful red route 4.5 kilometres long. The 5 km valley descent takes you back to the valley station in the village.
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.Après ski Malles Venosta
In the resort itself, the modern sport and spa centre "Sport Well" offers a broad range of leisure activities for after a day of skiing. This includes a swimming pool, fitness rooms, sauna, tennis courts, a bowling alley and a beauty area for cosmetic and massage treatments. If you like tobogganing, you're in the right place in Malles Venosta: directly at the ski area Watles, there is a night time toboggan run of over 4 km, which can be reached with the Watles lift. Alternatively, the area can also be reached on foot. In addition, approx. 10 km to the north of Malles Venosta, there is the Reschensee, a trademark top-spot for the ice skating scene with a 2 km long stretch to skate along.
Snowpark: Snowpark Watles Malles Venosta
The Snowpark Watles can be described as small, but impressive. Over a length of 650 m, there are 13 obstacles and eight tables, include four boxes, four kickers, two rails and a wall ride. The obstacles are looked after daily by professionals, so that the park is always in top shape. After the jumping fun, you can meet in the nearby igloo and relax with music and drinks - or to skip into après ski.
