Ski area Plan de Corones
The 58 km of blue and 32 km of red slopes in the Plan de Corones ski area are ideal for beginners and families. On the particularly wide pistes, visitors can spread out and learn their first turns in the best possible way. In the lovingly-designed children's lands of the "Croniworld", little snow lovers can learn about winter sports in a playful way. Experienced skiers and snowboarders can head for the 30 kilometres of black pistes in the Plan de Corones ski area. Experienced snow lovers can put their skills to the test on the famous valley runs "Hernegg" and "Sylvester", both around 5 km long. But beware: the "Hernegg" piste covers around 1,300 m and has a gradient of up to 60%. Here, winter sports fans need not only good technique and stamina, but also a good dose of courage. Freestylers can look forward to two modern fun parks with excellent shaped kickers and a wide range of boxes and rails in the Plan de Corones ski area.
With the "Dolomiti Superski" lift pass upgrade, snow lovers have the opportunity to explore a total of 1,200 kilometres of pistes and 450 lifts in fifteen ski areas.
By the way: In Tesido, there is a small, sunny ski area - the "Skilift Guggenberg" - with its own ski school, which is ideal for families. There is also illuminated skiing every Friday evening from 19:30 - 22:00.
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. Gliding over the glistening snow on a starry night - an unforgettable experience. Night skiing under floodlights takes place once a week at the small "Gluggenberg" village lift in Taisten. In the Kronplatz ski area, approx. 20 minutes away, there is also a wide range of floodlit slopes. On various evenings of the week, the "Cianross", "Korer", "Terenten" and "Guggenberg" slopes are opened and illuminated by floodlights. In addition to the lively après ski at Plan de Corones, there is a wide range of leisure and sports activities in Monguelfo-Tesido. In summer as well as in winter, numerous hiking trails attract hiking fans to the municipality. The hiking trails in the region are well signposted, providing hikers with a diverse range of more or less challenging routes. Nature-lovers should plan a hike to the "Taistner Vorderalm". At an altitude of 2,012 m, you have a fantastic view over the valley and the mountains of the Dolomites.
Tobogganing fans also get their money's worth on the hills around Monguelfo-Tesido. How about a hike to one of the many alpine pastures before heading down the valley on a toboggan? Here, for example, the toboggan run from the Taistner Vorderalm to the Mudlerhof is a good choice. On 7.8 km, tobogganers conquer a difference in altitude of almost 400 metres. There are also wonderful toboggan runs in the nearby Plan de Corones ski area, such as the "Cianross" at the valley station of the same name.
Winter holidaymakers interested in culture should consider a trip to Welsberg Castle. The oldest castle in the Alta Pusteria valley with its characteristic keep is definitely worth a visit.
Snowpark: Snowpark Kronplatz Monguelfo-Tesido
In the Plan de Corones ski area, which can be reached in about 20 minutes from Monguelfo-Tesido, the freestylers among the winter holidaymakers will find two snow parks with excellently-shaped kickers and a considerable selection of rails and boxes. The "Jib Park" is located near the Brunico/Riscone valley station on the "Korer" piste. Here, beginners and experts will find numerous boxes and a sliding tube. Once a week, the park is also open in the evening and illuminated by floodlights, so that freestylers can also work on new tricks late at night. The second fun park is located between the "Belvedere" and "Plateau" pistes at 2,230 m above sea level. It features an easy kicker line for beginners, a rail line and two large kickers with tables on which advanced aerial acrobats can let off steam.
