Ski holidays Interlaken - heart of the Jungfrau region!
Interlaken
The famous resort Interlaken is located idyllically between the Thurn and Brienz lakes and is known to be the "gateway to the virgin" (Jungfrau region). The holiday and congress resort has international importance and lies in midst of the Bernese Oberland. At an altitude of 568 m, Interlaken is surrounded by the world-famous backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the majestic 3,000 and 4,000 metre peaks. With a valid ski, hiking or tobogganing pass as well as a fully filled-out guest card the ski buses commuting between the valley station and ski areas can be used for free. Therefore Interlaken is the ideal starting point for the "Jungfrau Top Ski Region"! But also away from the pistes you are sure not to be bored: there are many bars, discos and restaurants in close proximity, as well as many sports and culture facilities. No matter if it is tobogganing on one of the longest runs in Europe, sky diving in front of an impressive mountain massif or just relaxed lounging on the "Top of Europe", the highest located railway station in Europe.Jungfrau Region
Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau are, along with the famous Eigernordwand, the hallmark and high mountains of the Jungfrau region. Situated in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, the area stretches from Interlaken to the peak of the Jungfrau Massif. An impressive mountain landscape and crystal-clear lakes attract thousands of tourists each year to the famous holiday resorts. The region is home to several treasures, such as the "Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn", with the longest ice flow in the Alps (22 km), which is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. Just as famous is the restaurant "Piz Gloria" on the Schilthorn (2,970 m), which served as a backdrop for the James Bond Film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". The "Top of Europe" is the highest train station in Europe and is situated at 3,454 m. The Jungfrau region is especially known as an Eldorado for skiers, snowboarders and hiking fans.Travel Interlaken
