The dry, powdery snow at Big White is legendary, and in 2008, was voted "Best Powder" from Ski Canada Magazine. The largest Canadian "ski-in/ski-out" ski area reaches up to 2,319 m altitude and offers 118 (partly) illuminated pistes of all levels of difficulty (total length: 105 km of piste). The most demanding can be found at the Gem Lake Express and Powder Chair, where only lightly prepared runs make for a diverse and rapid experience. Further deep-snow areas and moguls also provide real challenges. A highlight for the pros, "The Cliff", located near the Black Forest Express, is a double black diamond forest run. The ski area's longest slope is 7.2 km long. Another highlight is the lift equipment (16 lifts), of which belongs to the most modern and fastest lifts in the world. Additionally, for snowboarders, there are 2 terrain parks available to check out, with their own chair lifts, a super pipe, and even rails and jumps for freestyle riding. Mild average tempurates of -5°C make winter sports in Big White even more pleasant. The ski season takes place from November to mid-April.
Après ski Big White
Skiing and apres ski are combined excellently in Big White, with all of the restaurants, bars, cafes, and further facilities being able to be reached on skis. There are 17 restaurants available, from cafeteria-style to high-quality class. Of the apres ski bars available, "Snowshoe Sam" is a must-visit, where juicy steaks and great live music in a nice pub-and-fireplace atmosphere are waiting to be enjoyed. This location, by the way, was voted best Canadian ski bar just a few years ago. Whoever wishes to keep fit on holiday can choose between numerous activities such as ice climbing, snow tubing, snow scooter riding, snow shoe hiking, dog-sledding, ice skating, and much more. You can also spoil yourself in one of the two on-site wellness centres, "Beyond Wrapture" and "Elevation Village Spa". There, you'll find a range of diverse massages offered, such as hot stone, aromatherapy, and even wellness packages.
